TEHRAN -- The National Committee for Museums of Iran is trying to gain the approval of UNESCO’s International Council of Museums (ICOM) for the Melal Orchestra to perform during the CIMCIM conference in Vienna, which will be held from August 19 to 24.
CIMCIM (Comité International des Musées et Collections d'Instruments de Musique/International Committee of Musical Instrument Museums and Collections) is a committee of ICOM.
“The proposal must be approved by the international committees of ICOM. Afterwards we will prepare for the performance,” conductor Peyman Soltani told the Persian service of CHN on Tuesday.
“A council has been established to arrange the program, and the orchestra has begun preliminary rehearsals, which will be intensified after the (Iranian) New Year’s holiday” he added.
